Christmas has quietly unfurled its magic at The Royal Horseguards Hotel, and we were delighted to bring the season to life within one of London’s most storied and elegant addresses.

From the very first moment, the hotel welcomes guests with a sense of warmth and tradition. The entrance is dressed in classic Christmas hues of green, red and gold, a timeless palette that instantly evokes festive nostalgia.

This opening chapter sets the tone for what unfolds beyond: a carefully curated Christmas experience where each space tells its own gentle seasonal story.

As guests move through the hotel, the palette subtly shifts. Flowing through the lobby, lounge and restaurant, a chic blue-grey scheme introduces a sense of winter calm and quiet refinement.

Designed to complement the hotel’s architecture rather than compete with it, these softer tones bring a contemporary elegance to the festive styling, allowing the atmosphere to feel both luxurious and relaxed.

At the heart of the installation sits our favourite chapter. A striking 12-foot statement Christmas tree stands alongside a richly dressed mantle, layered in amber tones, warm golds and frosted blues.

This central moment anchors the festive design, its colours and textures echoed seamlessly throughout the hotel to create a sense of continuity and cohesion. The effect is immersive yet understated, a celebration of Christmas that feels considered, calm and beautifully balanced.

Just beyond, at One Whitehall Place, a second show-stopping moment awaits. Here, a 15-foot luxury Christmas tree stands proudly beside the grand marble staircase, glowing with red and gold warmth.

Designed to enhance the architectural drama of the space, this tree brings a sense of grandeur while remaining entirely in harmony with its surroundings.

A little shimmer, a little wonder, and a very Wildabout Christmas.

Serving elegance the moment you step through the door

Tucked beside the Thames at Embankment, The Royal Horseguards Hotel connects two remarkable buildings: the distinguished National Liberal Club, once frequented by figures such as Winston Churchill, William Gladstone and David Lloyd-George, and the grand apartments that housed Britain’s first Chief of Secret Intelligence. Together, they form a place where London’s history feels ever-present, quietly woven into every corridor and detail.

At 2 Whitehall Court, overlooking the River Thames, the hotel stands at the crossroads of power, politics and heritage. Built within sight of Parliament and Downing Street, it has long been a silent witness to some of the nation’s most defining moments.

From political intrigue to royal processions, the walls of The Royal Horseguards Hotel hold stories that stretch back centuries.

A place made for stories

The Royal Horseguards Hotel is more than a place to stay, it is part of London’s historic heart. Housed in a striking 19th-century building overlooking the Thames, it blends Victorian grandeur with a setting rich in royal and diplomatic legacy.

Just steps from the Banqueting House and the site of the former Palace of Whitehall, and close to the historic grounds of Scotland Yard, the hotel sits where monarchs once ruled and history was shaped.

Few London addresses can claim such a deep connection to the past while continuing to offer modern comfort and timeless hospitality.

It is this unique blend of history, elegance and atmosphere that made The Royal Horseguards Hotel such a natural canvas for our Christmas installation. Our approach was never about excess, but about enhancement, allowing festive moments to unfold gently within spaces already rich in character and narrative.

Today, The Royal Horseguards Hotel offers guests a front-row seat to the stories of London. Whether arriving for a winter stay, a festive meal overlooking the Thames, or a quiet drink surrounded by history, Christmas here feels both intimate and memorable.

For Wildabout, it was an honour to bring a layer of seasonal magic to such an iconic setting, creating festive moments that feel timeless, thoughtful and deeply connected to place.
